Emerald Owl Productions is proud to partner with Mindful Health Initiative (MHI). MHI provides physical and social skill support to students in at-risk populations through mindful education and practice. MHI’s mission is to support academic achievement, self-esteem, social competence, and avoidance of problem/high-risk behavior while providing a safe learning environment through mindful sport, art, and music to help each student achieve their full potential as a community member.
MHI was established by our West Coast Director, Jessie Koltz, to ensure mindful physical activities are the norm in ALL K-12 Title I, at-risk populations. Our vision is to bring more physical activities to schools and communities to help students and their families stay healthy and strong. MHI strives to support better behaviors and social skills in class while enhancing leadership skills through community involvement and mindful practice.
MHI provides education through exercise to help students achieve higher test scores while practicing mindfulness. Our program encourages and supports improved attendance through participation in before, during, and after school activities. Activities inclusive of mindful mediation, helping support peer conflict; the practice of yoga and engaging in physical and social skill building games to engage and enlighten; as well as the implementation of mindful activities from resources such as MindUp and Playworks to educate individual control when communicating and playing. All of these are included within the MHI practice and implementation through community volunteer support and sponsorship.
