LASER SHOW PRICING
Professional laser shows are priced quite differently than many other forms of entertainment. This is due to the many options customers have with laser shows.
Imagine asking a real estate agent, "How much is a house?" or a wedding planner, "How much is a wedding?" It would be impossible to give you an honest answer without more details. There are just too many unknown variables. The same holds true for laser shows. Just like houses and weddings, laser shows can be scaled up or down to meet different needs, wants, and budgets.
If you might be interested, the first step is to arrange a phone call. You can call us at a 252-764-7628. We will NEVER pressure you to choose a laser show. The purpose of our phone call will be to get information so we can present proposals that accomplish your goals and stay on budget. In some instances, we may want to do a site visit before we give a quote.
Some of the things we will discuss on our phone call include:
1) What are you trying to accomplish?
This will almost always be the first question we ask you. It gives us an idea as to what your goals are and why the event is being held. For example, if you say "We want to honor fallen veterans on Memorial Day," we will put together a very different production than if you say, "We want to invite our entire town to celebrate our school's football championship."
2) What type of laser show are you envisioning?
There are three types of laser shows.
a) Beam shows focus on an array of visible lights projecting towards and over your audience, choreographed to music, and "coloring the sky."
b) Graphic/animation shows focus on images, often moving characters, scenes, and words projecting onto a large, flat surface, such as a screen, thick trees, a wide water fountain, a building, or even a wall. Abstracts and other colorful effects that appear to be "dancing" are sometimes done on trees or other larger objects.
c) Combo of Beam and Graphic/animation
3) Venue and Anticipated Crowd
Every venue has pros and cons. Since we customize laser shows to fit various types of venues, we will need to ask you several questions about your venue.
* How big is your venue? The length helps us determine the laser wattage, or brightness needed. The width helps us determine how many lasers are needed.
* Is it outdoors or indoors?
* Approximately how many people need to be able to have a good view of the show?
* Once at the venue, will people have the capability to move into a designated viewing area? It is often more cost effective to make a smaller area look amazing than try to create a view for the entire venue.
* If outdoors, is your viewing area a permanent fixture that faces a specific direction, such as an amphitheater, or do we have flexibility to customize a viewing area that can face any direction? (This is important for the FAA approval process.)
Note: Keep in mind that laser shows are not a 360 degree experience. Beams project horizontally over your audience meaning that people outside of the designated viewing area, often shaped like a "V" will not have a good view of the show.
* Will you require sound, FM transmitter, or both? If you will already have a sufficient sound system on site, we often can use this so long as we can coordinate with the sound engineer in advance.
* What power is available and where is it located at the venue? Is it all in one spot or is throughout the venue?
* What is near your venue? Are there occupied buildings with windows, elevated roads, bridges, etc.
* What is the closest airport?
4) Location of Venue
Your location may impact our quote in the terms of travel costs and how many days need to be booked.
5) Is your laser show a stand-alone event or part of an overall larger event?
This will likely impact the length of your show. If people are traveling just for the laser show, we have found 35-45 minutes is a good length. If people are there as part of something else, such as a festival, sporting event, etc. we have found that 8-12 minutes is a good length.
Great laser shows are designed by talented programmers who synchronize the lasers with the selected music for every second your show weeks in advance.
6) Do you require any customized music that will require advanced programming?
If there is a certain song or list of songs you want, a laser designer will need to create your show weeks in advance. Otherwise, you can choose from laser shows we have already designed.
7) What is A Ballpark Budget?
Since all of our events are customized, we will ask early on for an approximate budget so that we can prepare appropriate proposals for your event. Keep in mind laser shows are often an alternative to professional fireworks, not a local DJ or small, local band.
With that said, we love what we do and will try to make something work for you based on your budget. For example, your event might look great with 4 lasers, but if your budget allows for 8 lasers, it might be be spectacular! There may be other upgrades available to take your event to an entirely new level. We do not want to "scare you away" with packages that are not practical or affordable to you, but we also do not want to sell you short by just giving the smallest proposals.
Let's collaborate to find that perfect balance so you can have your first laser show experience!
GETTING THE MOST "BANG FOR YOUR BUCK"
It is important to know that nightly rates decrease significantly after the first night. Do not make the common mistake of taking a 1 night quote, multiplying by 3, and thinking that will be the 3 night quote.
Here is why. Laser show overhead is different from many other types of entertainment. Fireworks are an expendable product, meaning they are used one time. If you want a second fireworks show, you will need to pay for more fireworks. Bands perform live. If you want a second band performance on the following night, you will be likely be charged for twice the time.
Lasers, on the other hand, are designed to perform for many years. So much of our overhead, such as laser rentals, the programming of your show, travel, and set-up, is the same regardless of how many nights you run your show.
Note: Laser rentals are on a weekly basis because even for a one night show, by the time the laser travels to the venue, performs, and returns, it will be 3-4 days.
So if you are looking to get the most value for your investment, or even make a profit yourself, multiple nights are the way to go. : Sharing the overhead costs over multiple nights greatly reduces your nightly rate. This allows you to fill your venue multiple nights, instead of just once.
And that's not ALL! Want to have 2, 3 or even 4 showings of the laser show in one night? You can......with VERY LITTLE impact on price!
Here is an example:
We had a client who contracted EOP $13,000 for one show on one night.
Another client contracted the same show for 12 nights, 3 shows per night, for $76,000, or $6,333 per night, or just $2,111 per show! This arrangement allowed the 12 night client to make a significant profit because their venue was filled 36 different times in two weeks!
This does unfortunately mean the opposite is also true. One night shows will inevitably have a higher nightly rate because the overhead does not change much. With that said, we have created a solution for clients who want a one night event.......
Multiple day packages can be split with nearby clients
Emerald Owl Productions does something most companies do not in an effort to make one night shows more affordable. We can create a 2 multiple day package, and with some coordination, the costs can be shared! If you know of another client nearby who would be interested in a laser show, you can "partner" with them to share the cost of the package. This arrangement can save thousands of dollars for each client, making a one night event more affordable.
Ask If We Can Consider A Shared Revenue Event
In some cases, we can consider being your partner on an event.....we can work on a lower guarantee and then agree upon a split of the revenue we generate together. We cannot always guarantee this option, but please ask us! If we can make something a win-win, we are ALL IN!!!
We Love What We Do And Want to Make It Happen!
There are many moving parts to a laser show....but the good news is all this information only needs to be figured out one time....the first time! Once we get this information, we will not need to address it each year.
We LOVE what we do and we love sharing laser shows with new clients. We will do everything we can to make it happen. If cost is the only obstacle, tell us. Give us a chance to create some creative solutions!
