WHY FOG AND HAZE MACHINES
Have you ever tried to drive on a foggy night? Have you noticed what happens when cars pass you going the other direction? It becomes even harder to drive as you see the actual beams of the headlights coming at you from the car!
When the light beams from the headlights hit the fog molecules in space, they scatter, making those headlights appear even brighter. So while fog certainly can create anxiety during night time driving , the same concept makes laser shows look amazing. If you are having a laser beam show (fog is not necessary in a graphics/animations only show), the beams must be of a wavelength that is visible to humans. Fog or dust scatters the laser light very strongly and rapidly so that the colors "explode" in space and you can really see them.
When we talk about bringing in fog and haze machines,. we realize this can add another moving part to your event. However, see the pictures below for why figuring out how to accommodate fog or haze machines at your laser show is so critical. These pictures are from the same show on the same night. When the show was over, we took the picture on the left without fog in the air for comparison purposes. EVERYTHING else is the same --- same lasers, same wattage output, same American flag effect, same weather conditions --- the only difference is there is no fog on the picture in the left. The difference is incredible and quite noticeable.
